Groton-Dunstable Education Foundation (GDEF)
...helping our students "Reach for the Stars!"
Dear Community Members,
The Groton-Dunstable Education Foundation (GDEF) is a local volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting our public school district above and beyond the school budget. Over the past 20 years, GDEF has awarded over $700,000, funding hundreds of innovative and inspiring programs and opportunities that improve the quality of our students’ education. We believe each child deserves
an excellent educational experience and that supported and successful schools are fundamental elements of our special communities.
In the last academic year, GDEF awarded 16 grants across district schools totaling over $23,000. We granted new and different types of requests such as:

-
Visual Literacy, which provided wordless picture books to Florence Roche and Swallow Union. These books offer opportunities for students to tell stories without the anxiety or frustration of not being able to read yet.
-
Inclusive Toys, which added new toys, books, and creative materials at Boutwell that are reflective of Boutwell students to support diversity, equity, awareness, and inclusion.
-
Thermal Cameras, which provided 7th-grade science classrooms with sets of thermal cameras for further investigation and understanding of their heat transfer unit.
-
Sponsorships, including Robotomies, Chamber Choir, and DECA at the High School.

These grants would not be possible without the generosity and support of our community and donors like you. Your donations are directly returned to the hands and minds of our children in the form of play, science, arts, technology, math, literacy, social-emotional learning, and civics programming. Your support today, especially during this challenging financial time for our district, will help ensure that our students will receive access to unique, innovative, and meaningful educational experiences that inspire and engage them.
Donations are eligible for tax deduction, may be company-matched, and are directly applied to grants in the current year and beyond. This year, our goal is to raise enough money through donations to exceed the level of support we provided this past school year. Our community, our schools, and our students are worth it.
Together we can help our children reach for the stars!
Thank you for your support,
The GDEF Board of Directors
